our founder
Hi, and welcome. I’m so glad you’re here. Motherhood is an extraordinary journey, and for many of us, it’s far from traditional. As a high-achieving career woman who became a parent later in life, I know the unique challenges of balancing a demanding profession with the emotional and physical complexities of pregnancy, loss, and motherhood. My journey hasn’t been easy. After the heartbreaking loss of my daughter and son, I struggled with PTSD. When I became pregnant with my first living son later in life, I faced challenges I wasn’t prepared for—perinatal anxiety, depression, and even a period of psychosis. By the time my second son was eight months old, postpartum depression blindsided me.
During these times, I felt dismissed and invisible—like my pain was normal or something I just had to "get over." I longed for someone to listen, to validate my experiences, and to help me find my voice in a system that so often silences women. These experiences fueled my passion for creating a space where women feel heard, supported, and empowered. I founded Georgia Women’s Health Consultants because I knew firsthand what it felt like to walk through motherhood without the care and understanding I so deeply needed. Here, we focus on delivering compassionate, personalized support that respects each woman's unique journey, choices, and values.
Our mission is to provide compassionate, personalized care that honors your journey and equips you with the tools and knowledge to thrive. To ensure I could offer the highest level of care, I pursued both professional training and formal education. I’m a Certified Full-Spectrum Doula (International Doula Institute), a Certified Breastfeeding Counselor (The Thompson Method), and a Certified Peer Support Instructor (Postpartum Support International). I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership and a Master’s Degree in Teaching and Learning with Technology—foundations that helped me build a practice rooted in evidence-based care and innovation.
As a high-earning professional, I understand the unique pressures women in similar positions face. Late-life pregnancy and motherhood come with layers of complexity that demand more than traditional care—they require a deep understanding of your experiences, values, and goals.
If you're searching for someone who truly understands—someone with lived experience, deep professional expertise, and a heart for helping women thrive—please reach out. You don’t have to face this alone. At Georgia Women’s Health Consultants, we’re here to listen, support, and help you find your strength and voice. Together, we’ll build a path to a motherhood experience that honors you.
Your Body. Your Birth. Your Way.
With Love,
LaKisha Headley
