5 Reasons why you should hire a doula
You have been wondering if you should hire a doula. Maybe you wished you had a doula during your first birth, or this is your first pregnancy. Even if you are not pregnant, here are five reasons you should hire a doula.
Many women believe that when they arrive at the hospital their nurse will spend more than 50% of their time providing labor support. Nationally, nurses spend 6-10%* of their time engaged in your labor.
The amount of time may be less in Georgia. Georgia currently has one of the lowest nurse-to-population ratios in the country, with only 7.3 nurses to every 1,000 people. Our doulas support you physically, emotionally, and mentally during 100% of your pregnancy, labor, and delivery. We focus only on YOUR BODY. YOUR BIRTH. YOUR WAY.
Empowerment, Knowledge, Confidence.
Before labor begins, you have certified professionals available to answer questions about pregnancy, medical terms, interventions, etc.
For example, if your provider uses medical terms you aren’t familiar with. We will define the term, provide reasons why it may be applicable, and answer any questions you may have regarding it.
We work with your partner. We DO NOT REPLACE THEM.
We could never replace your partner and we wouldn't want to! Your partner knows you better than anyone. They know when you are at your limit or what it means when you scrunch your nose during a conversation.
Your partner brings a wealth of knowledge regarding you! We have the knowledge about pregnancy, comfort measures, birth, etc. Together we are a powerful team focused on you and your baby.
There are many birth stories out there. Every mother has one. Here is what our clients had to say about their birth experiences.
She reminded me that I knew my body best. It gave me the confidence to keep going.
“I didn't feel alone. She stayed with me the whole time."
“My third birth was a complete 180! I felt so empowered!”
Your doula is there to help you feel seen, safe and heard.
Studies have shown that depression and anxiety after birth are significantly tied to sleep.
Clients hire us to help them and baby sleep better. We accomplish this by creating a plan on what is needed to meet the end goal: restorative sleep.
While resting/sleeping, your postpartum doula will ensure your baby is dry, fed, clean, comforted, and safe. We take notes (including pictures and videos) of activities while there. Previous clients have told others that not only did they feel rested, but their confidence in their parenting skills also skyrocketed with our assistance in the first six months of their child's life.
Whatever your reasons for wanting a doula, please know that our focus is YOUR BODY. YOUR BIRTH. YOUR WAY. Contact us today to create a plan.
